All in all, a pretty good weekend of sailing at Cass- the weather was great, the wind was typical...sometimes out on the wire, sometimes drifting...and in the case of the last race on Saturday...drifting slowly while admiring your reflection in the glass surface of the lake.
Winners for the weekend included
Paul Krutty and Crew, who took the high Portsmouth division crown, and John
Bauldry who kicked some F18 ass. He has got those Nacra and Inter people
talking...great stuff. All in all, a good Hobie showing with 7 boats, including
a gentleman who showed up today and will sail with us a bit this year, including
catfight
Mark Colby sailed his slime lime 16 around the course real well and Gregg Kittenger managed to get the "Swift Swiss", Hubert to sail with him on his H20. It was a real change of "pace" for Hubert, who is used to the "speed" of his 14 Turbo. Looks as though Hubert may travel to Madcatter with Gregg, if he can get permission!
Matt Bounds continued to demonstrate his superior skills as he made us others on 16's look like we were dragging anchors. Had he not had so many no shows due to his young crew feeling the effects of Saturday's early morning chill, he may have taken home the prize as well. It is a pleasure to watch Matt sail - he can sail higher and faster, with fewer errors than you can believe. Awesome.
We have truly been blessed these last two weekends, it makes me thankful that I got an early start in getting my boat ready, these close to home events are great. Look forward to seeing everyone on Wednesday...see you at the DNR launch ramp. Make certain you have your boat in the water by 6:30 P.M. at the latest. The weather forcast looks great. If anyone's boat is not ready, but they are interested in sailing, let me know, I'm sure there may be a crew position or two. Have a great couple of days...see you on the starting line!
